Chicago Halloweenie

(click any photo to enlarge)

So yesterday we went to the 5th Annual Halloweenie Gala in our own hometown, Chicago.  There were so many cool costumes among the 35 or so Dachshunds there, it was simply amazing.  This is big black and tan smooth 'Ike,' who you've met once before. If you live near Chicago, you know that Interstate 290 is mostly known as the Eisenhower Expressway, or "the Ike."  Our new friend walked away with the top award for the day - The People's Choice Award.  Way to go Ike!  Surprisingly only one of the cars fell off the back of the highly active boy who turns one year old in a few weeks.

'Autumn,' a sweet little blind girl came as the Wicked Witch with her 3 Dachshund siblings who were flying monkeys!

One of their Dads is a professional costume designer, can you tell?  The outfits were spectacular.  The hats are actually attached to the collars so that they don't have to be worn on the head (we hate that!)  The wings seemed to fly as they walked around.

Our good friend 'Peanut,' a doxie-mix from Wisconsin was Sherlock Holmes!

Our Dad is going to have to do better than banana costumes from Target next year.  But what a fun day!  And another Dachtober, our favorite month of the year, has come to an end.
